I feel like I should help out all those poor moms (and possibly dads) who are currently doing hours upon hours of research to find a stroller (as I once did!) As it turns out, I made the right choice. My initial hesitation with the stroller was that it appears to be really big. However, this is largely an optical illusion, which I think is created by the large tires. When you compare it with other strollers which offer similar functions (able to fully recline, optional carrycot, offering durability and a smooth ride for baby) it's really not more than 2 or 3 inches longer, and it's exactly the same width (this was what I found when I lined it up next to the uppababy vista in the shop)So, what more can I tell you... First of all, I've covered size - not a drawback at all when bringing it on the bus, or getting through doorways or wheeling around larger shops and grocery stores. You will have to check that it fits in your trunk however, if you have a small car this may be an issue. Most importantly, it is safe and comfortable for baby. The sidewalks around my place are quite bumpy from the roots of old trees breaking through here and there, but my little one has never had a rough ride, and every day I am so glad I went for a stroller with sturdy, air filled tires. The carry cot was great as an indoor bed at night, and buggy bassinet. My ten month old is now off the charts for height, and he is very comfortable in the seat. If you are tall, like I am, you will appreciate the height of the handle. I'm 6'1, and it's plenty tall enough for me (but adjusts to accommodate shorter folks). This was a factor which eliminated many, many other strollers for me! Simplicity of design. This makes it easy to use, more versatile, and less likely to break, as there are fewer pieces to fail. For example, the method for adjusting the seat recline is just a couple of heavy duty straps which slide through buckles. This means you can choose precisely any degree of recline you want, and it's very easy to adjust, and there are really no pieces that could break or fail. Pretty much the only part of this stroller that seems complex enough to break down are the brakes, and the adjustable handle bar. Which brings us to : customer service and warranty. VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Let's face it, everything is made in China these days, and everything made in China WILL break, usually sooner rather than later. No matter how expensive your product is, or what the name brand is, it will break. It's probably all made at the same factory anyways. This has been my experience as a consumer with regard to any number of products I've used that were manufactured in China. So, when purchasing a stroller (an expensive item that will be subject to daily wear and tear) you must find a company with good customer service (this was a deciding factor against the overpriced Bugaboo, as I'd read negative reviews about their customer service and warranty). It just so happens, that after only 3 months of light use, the brakes failed on one side. Mountain Buggy's online warranty claim was a breeze to use; I simply uploaded a photo of the defect, a photo of my receipt, and wrote a brief description of the problem. I received an email response within the week, and within 2 weeks they had fedex-ed me a brand new frame. Yes, a whole frame. I had been dreading the thought of getting my stroller to some authorized dealer to have it repaired, (I don't drive), lugging my 18 pound baby around in the interim while it was being repaired, then dealing with the paperwork of filing a claim for the repair charges, and finally ending up with a $500 stroller that was less than perfect after only 3 months!) Well, I am so happy to say that my experience was not at all the stressful story I've just outlined, and was in fact so impressive, that I was inspired to write this review. Happy stroller shopping! Because it reclines all the way flat, we were taking our newborn for walks around the block when he was just 2 weeks old. The shade is completely adjustable and does a great job blocking the sun. For the few drawbacks, I must point out that the tires are very soft & the tread will wear away rather quickly. Our son is now 7 months old and we have completely worn away one of the tires so that the steel belting is showing through and is now flat - we will have to order a relacement. Another thing is that the shade doen't completely lay flush to the frame when in the up (normal) position - there have been a few times that my son has wedged his hand between the frame and the shade's support bar in a painful way. I would say that overall it is a very goog stroller, however, I wish 3.5 stars was an option - for the price I was expecting a near flawless product, which this is not.UPDATE: my son is now 18 months old and we have gone through 3 sets of tires (7 tires in total: 6 rear & 1 front tire) as well as 4 inner tubes at a cost of more than $150. Since the tires are an unusual size alternative replacements are unavailable and one must purchase them through the manufacturer (I've tried many online bicycle parts websites to no avail). Downgraded review to 3 stars. If anyone has had their stroller for over a year & uses it regularly please comment if they have/have not had the same problem.
